Recently launched by Frédérique Buck in cooperation with photographer Sven Becker, iamnotarefugee.lu is a project poignantly portraying refugees to Luxembourg. The goal: “give a human face to the refugees” and “bring refugees and residents together”. A citizen project which Maison Moderne has decided to support via a media partnership reaching out to more than 30,000 readers, with the testimonies being disseminated on the Delano and Paperjam websites and in their respective newsletters.
Frédérique Buck hopes that her initiative will help bring refugees and residents together, in particular via a button allowing to send an email to the refugee in question at the end of each portrait.
“We need to transform the momentum of solidarity into actual meetings (...). Beyond finding work and having a roof over their heads, what the refugees need most of all are social contacts, with people willing and able to listen to them and comfort them. Their greatest wish is to have a feeling of belonging.”
